DPG has a new web site. It’s noteworthy to me because it runs Drupal, which is also what the Georgia Podcast Network runs.
Y’all have any thoughts about it one way or the other?
Drupal is pretty awesome once you learn how to use it, but the learning curve is steep. We didn’t really know how to use it when we made the current version of the podcast site, and there are a lot of things about how it works that make me cringe now. If we ever get the redesign finished, I’ll write about all that once we have a nice shiny new site up and those flaws aren’t there for everybody to see.
h/t Andre for the link to the new site

I did the GDP site (I work for NGP Software) and have been doing Drupal work full time for two and a half years. If you need any help with it, I’d be happy to help out any way I can. One bit of advice right off the top - all of my sites make heavy use of the CCK, Views, and Panels modules. GDP’s tabbed section on the homepage is a Mini Panels block with jstools tabs (the individual tabs are all one view called with different arguments), and the whole pages is a two col stacked Panel Page layout.
Thanks for the comment Sean!
Our (still unfinished) redesign makes heavy use of Views and CCK, and we’re writing some custom modules as well.
To give you an idea of how long ago we did the first version of the site in Internet Years, Drupal 4.7 had just come out, and CCK either didn’t exist or was too new to be usable (people were still using Flexinode).
I don’t know where you’re located, but if you live around here you should check out the Drupal Atlanta meetings.
I’m in DC, but feel free to email me: seanr@ngpsoftware.com. And yes, I do remember the woes of Flexinode. :-/
BTW, if you’ve used the Forward module, that one is mine. Be sure to update it if you haven’t lately, as it’s now views enabled. You might also find this one useful:
