From Brad Ideas:
You can put this shipping tape on your packages and your airplane luggage. Every time I fly, my luggage gets a card in it telling me how “for my protection†they have searched it.
Now, when they open my luggage, they will have to literally slice the 4th amendment in half in order to do this.
You can pick up a roll of the tape for eight bucks here. I’m plagiarizing this post from Dylan. I even stole the headline just for Amber and Patrick, because I’m sure they’ll enjoy the gratuitous use of the word literally.

Wow…what a great idea. The irony is yesterday, one of my students was suspended until the end of the year for a picture she had in her notebook. (her and some friends throwing gang signs) The students are up in arms over the entire situation since the Assistant Principal took her notebook from her and started flipping through it. There was nothing on the outside of the notebook to warrent concern. We all know she is involved with the Surs but she is a good student and she wants to go to the community college. This incident might cost her a diploma and why…she wasn’t doing anything wrong…just a nosey AP. It doesn’t seem fair.
Guilty as charged.
cool!
Unfortunately for her there is a large body of case law that basically states that the 4th amendment does not apply inside schools and that administrators have carte blanche to search, seize and punish as they see fit.
Now she may be able to challenge the suspension on 1st amendment grounds but, honestly, I’m not sure what the precedent in that situation would be.
Regardless if it is legal or not, it is a poor way to build student relationships. I know we have a zero tolerance for anything gang related. The students are ready to fight anyone they see as putting them down, of course my kids will fight someone just for looking at them the wrong way…The suspension has caused alot of tension at the school.
