Former Atlanta Journal columnist and Pultizer Prize-nominated author Paul Hemphill will have a book signing tonight at Manuel’s from 6 to 9 p.m. for his new release Lovesick Blues: The Life of Hank Williams. He’s a wonderful man and a great writer. I’ve read two of his books already and plan to read more. Hope to see some of you there if you’re not otherwise engaged. Must work now.

Why do you call your site “Radical Georgia Moderate” when you’re really a leftist? Wouldn’t “Radical Georgia Liberal” be more accurate? Why pretend?
Its a joke Ed, you know humor, a play on words
Goddamn that’s awesome. I love when these people come around. I guess everyone has to take a break from the tearful masturbation every now and again.
What exactly leads you to the conclusion that I’m a leftist, Owen? That I don’t want the state telling me when and how I can choose to worship or not worship a deity? That I don’t want the state to tell me how to plan or not plan a family? That I don’t want the state telling me where I can or cannot smoke? That I’d like the government to balance its books? Those aren’t the only places where my opinions veer to the right (the real libertarian right, not the bogus religious “right”).
There are only a few places I consider my ideas really to the “left” end of the spectrum (i.e., the government should increase its involvement). My pet issue these days is mass transit and encouragement of mixed use development. Katrina illustrated the need for competent federal disaster management. The Army and National Guard and intelligence agencies should be bolstered. Guess what? It’s a left wing idea when you want bigger government, contrary to what Fox News tells you.
I’d be curious to hear your opinion, though I suspect it’s probably my opposition to President Bush and his dimwitted tenure in the White House that would lead you to label me as a leftist. If you were paying any attention, you’d notice he’s not really a conservative either (33 percent increase in government spending since his Administration took office, hello?)
Only Leftists like Hank Williams.
