Sander Bellman sent this email out. This relates to the Cobb County school board’s likely decision to appeal the federal court ruling barring it from placing anti-evolution stickers on county textbooks. I didn’t see this listed on the East Cobb Democratic Alliance website, so I’ll reprint it in full:
The Cobb County School Board will be meeting in Executive Session tonight at 6:00 p.m. to listen to their lawyers and to decide whether to appeal Judge Cooper’s decision. Then, at 7:00, the meeting will be opened to all residents. However, the room is small and if we want to be heard, we need to be there early.
Mike Holzknecht wrote that members of “The Christian Coalition†filled up the place last time and a lot of people could not get into the small meeting room. Sign up this time to say a few words. Last time, The Christian Coalition monopolized the microphone. Go for the good reasons, go to meet your friends, go for the drama and comedy, but just go. A large crowd will have some impact for changing their minds if they are wrong minded enough to appeal. The opposition will be there in force, they always are. Try to be at the board by 6:30 p.m.
The board meets at:
514 Glove St.
Marietta, GA 30060(770) 426-3300
Glover St. is a right turn off of Fairground which is off of GA Rt. 120. Use MapQuest to get directions from where you are coming from. Aim at arriving at the board at around 6:30 PM so that you don’t get left out in the lobby.
